Providence Bank & Trust will never call, text or email you asking for your confidential banking information. NEVER SHARE verification codes received through text message or from authenticator apps such as DUO with anyone.
Fraudsters will try to gain access to your confidential banking information and transactions by claiming to be from Providence Bank & Trust, presenting themselves as someone trying to help.
Fraudsters will often spoof (replicate) the bank’s phone number, mention a department or employee’s name, and/or send an email using the Providence Bank & Trust name.
Recent fraud trends indicate scammers are posing as Providence Bank & Trust representatives and may contact customers through phone calls and/or emails regarding suspicious account activity, transaction verification for ACH Batches or Wire Transfers or security concerns. They often create a sense of urgency to verify account activity and may ask customers to click a link, share sensitive information, and share or enter online banking credentials. These links may contain malware or direct users to fraudulent websites designed to capture login information and gain unauthorized access to accounts.
Always remain skeptical of unsolicited communication, protect your personal information and slow down to verify requests. Fraudsters will often create a sense of urgency to prevent you from thinking clearly.
